Blackhawk 911X Ratchet Review

On a previous visit to the car boot sale, or flea market, I found this superb Blackhawk 911X ratchet at my favourite vintage tool stall where I paid £3.00 for four tools.

This is a very nice vintage ratchet and was originally supplied in the Blackhawk number 18AD socket set and possibly separately too. It was made between 1928 and 1931 in its original form without the the reversing shift lever, one pushed the 1/2" drive block through the handle to change direction.

After 1931 Blackhawk updated the 911X ratchets to add a shift lever. My example appears to be a hybrid and has both the shift lever and a push through 1/2" drive plug.
